Construction
projects create many dangers to construction workers and
the nearby public. Lloyd & Cavanagh has considerable
experience investigating and prosecuting injury cases arising
from dangerous construction practices.
In
1997, partner Kurt Lloyd filed a negligence
case against a general contractor and municipality on
behalf of a 26 year old man who was struck by a taxi and
paralyzed while traveling through a temporary construction
zone. The plaintiff has alleged that a pedestrian canopy
structure which was intended to protect the public from
falling construction debris, in fact, created a "blind
spot" which hid from the view of approaching traffic
the presence of pedestrians in a crosswalk. The trial of
this case is pending.
In
1998, partner Tim Cavanagh filed suit against several construction
companies after a wall collapsed on a pedestrian canopy
injuring numerous people. The Complaint alleges that the
contractors failed to adhere to stringent safety codes.
The case remains pending.
