Jeffrey J. Escher attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (minor in History) in 2003. He then attended IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago and earned a Juris Doctor in 2006. During his time at Chicago-Kent, Mr. Escher received several academic honors pertaining to the area of litigation, including the Most Outstanding Advocate Award for the 2002 Intensive Trial Advocacy class. Mr. Escher was also recognized as receiving the highest grade in Trial Advocacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Also at Chicago-Kent, Mr. Escher was selected as an inaugural member of the Seventh Circuit Review Honors Seminar, which publishes a semi-annual, online journal dedicated to the analysis of recent opinions handed down by the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. His article, Copyright, Technology & the Boston Strangler: The Seventh Circuit and the Future of Online Music Access, can be found in the very first edition of The Seventh Circuit Review.

Mr. Escher began his practice of personal injury law as a law clerk at a prominent plaintiffs’ personal injury law firm specializing in claims arising from a vast array of catastrophic occurrences. His responsibilities as a law clerk included case and witness preparation for trial, discovery matters, pleadings and appellate practice. He worked on a number of complex personal injury, medical malpractice and premises liability cases as a law clerk.

Mr. Escher began his legal career working for an insurance defense firm where he concentrated mainly in automobile actions. He joined Lloyd & Cavanagh in April 2007 as its newest associate. Since that time, Mr. Escher has worked on a number of large trials and settlements, and in March of 2008, he obtained a $20 million prove-up award on behalf of the family of a woman murdered at her place of business.

Mr. Escher is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association.
