MOTHER
SUES DRIVER, COMPANY AFTER FATAL CRASH
The
mother of a 17-year-old Schaumburg boy killed last month
by a trucker who had marijuana in his system filed suit
Tuesday against the trucker driver and the company he worked
for.
The
suit by Norma J. Wooley Broker on behalf of her son Aric
Wooley differs from similar suits because its names A &
J Trucking.
That
Medinah company employed Richard S. Gancarz, the driver
whose truck crushed a car driven by Aric at Wood Dale Road
and Thorndale Avenue in Wood Dale on June 16.
The
theory on this case is that trucking companies should screen
the truckers they give the keys to," said Kurt S. Lloyd,
the mother's attorney.
Gancarz
was driving on a suspended license at the time of the crash,
police say. The lawsuit details Gancarz's spotty driving
record, which DuPage County prosecutors say includes several
drunken driving arrests and convictions.
Attorneys
for the trucking company and Gancarz could not be reached
for comment. Gancarz, a 43-year-old from Bloomingdale, remains
at the DuPage County jail, unable to post his $750,000 bail.
